From Standards to Real-World Practice
The Surge Protection Masterclass 2026 is a half-day technical training programme designed for engineers, consultants, and system integrators working in power and critical infrastructure systems.
Following last year’s session in Johor Bahru, the programme returns in 2026 in Petaling Jaya, in collaboration with Institution of Engineers Malaysia.
IEC surge protection standards provide a structured framework for system design and coordination. However, in practical engineering applications, system performance is also influenced by device selection, installation practices, coordination strategies, and overall system configuration.
This programme focuses on how these principles are applied in real engineering environments, particularly in power and critical infrastructure systems.
Programme Coverage
- Selection of surge protection devices for power applications
- IEC 61643 standard updates and practical implications
- Conventional SPD practices versus modern challenges
- SPD-specific overcurrent protection coordination
- Hybrid surge protection device applications
- Cost-efficient and correct installation practices
