Novaris has launched the new HSG3 Hybrid Spark Gap surge diverter for high energy and resilient main switch board protection.
The HSG design principle uses both Sealed Spark Gaps and Metal Oxide Varistor technology to achieve consistent performance with no follow on current that can cause nuisance tripping of circuit breakers. The HSG design also allows for overvoltage tolerance of up to 480V from line to neutral. This can be useful in areas with unstable grid supply. Typically a product with this level of fault tolerance and surge current handling would have a let through voltage of around 2000V. The HSG3-100-480 has a let through of only 1000V.
The new HSG3 is only 80mm wide and conforms to DIN depth to allow for flush front panel mounting. Monitoring is achieved via an LED per protection segment as well as a fail safe voltage free contact.
